Midlife Adventurer Sandra Bullock…Thriving in Hollywood at 45!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Okay, by now, we all know the Sandra Bullock heartbreak. Larry King interviewed celebrity journalists tonight rehashing the scandal as the media does so well (over and over and over….) They went on about her husband, Jesse James, saying he hasn’t changed his stripes (his second wife was a porn star). Then they pointed out that Sandra Bullock is one of the biggest stars in the world right now, and that she’ll survive this.

Then it dawned on me.. She’s 45 years old! Although the husband apparently hasn’t changed…Has Hollywood change its stripes? Are they finally accepting and allowing women over 40 to be leading ladies in their precious mainstream movies?

OR…is it because of us? The consumer. The viewer. The audience. After all, with the power of the internet and the ability to drive word-of-mouth faster and like never before, perhaps we can create a sea change in a New York minute!

I wish Sandra the best…and I congratulate her on THRIVING not just surviving in the shark infested waters of Hollywood! You’re a true midlife adventurer!

Wine Library TV’s Gary Vaynerchuk: Now is the time to make your dreams come true. Part 2

Gary Vaynerchuk Wine Library TV

In Part 1 of Gary Vaynerchuk: Now is the time, I write about Gary’s call to action: “Build your internet presence NOW!” He predicts in 36 months everything will change in the way we do business. And he insists that now is the time to build a business around what you love.

Here are some Gary V tips to get started:

Create content. And LOTS of it. Whether it’s a blog, video or audio. Remember, text is key for search engine optimization.

Be part of the community. Go to sites and comment (never put your URL in your comments only in the designated place for your name and URL). Connect with people on the social media sites.

Build your personal brand. (Who are you? What is your message?)

Be REAL. Don’t spend money and waste time trying to over produce your content. Viewers want to know YOU not your over thought blogs and over polished videos and podcasts.  Check out Gary V’s Wine Library TV show on the web for a taste of REAL. (Especially the 2006 and 07 shows when he began)

Oh, and by the way, because of Gary’s huge internet audience, he travels the world getting paid lots of money to speak.

Read Gary’s book, Crush It! (comes out October 13) Oh and by the way, this is a SEVEN-FIGURE book deal.

Tracy’s Adventure tip: It’s not about perfection, it’s about action. JUST DO IT.

Gary Vaynerchuk Wine Library TV

Adventure Tip: Hang around other adventurers. Stop. Look and LISTEN.

I used that tip yesterday. It was a midlife changer.

I stopped, looked intently and listened carefully (while nodding in agreement constantly!) to internet sensation’s Gary Vaynerchuk’s fantastic keynote and Q&A  at Esther Experience’s Purpose, Platform, Profits conference, created by Gina Ratliffe, being held this week in Santa Monica, CA. “The time is NOW” Gary says about the incredible opportunities to build our personal brands, products, services and just about anything on the internet. The paradigm is shifting from Traditional Media, Brick and Mortar businesses, and traditional advertising to a global, virtual marketplace. We can now be creative, build our businesses, and make our dreams come true for very little money.

The Brick and Mortar model requires tremendous amounts of financial risk, now all you need is a computer, a name, website (in my opinion, a WordPress blog/podcast/webcast site) and you’re in business. “It’s a lot of work and lots of hours” Gary warns the audience. But I love it. It’s clear this maverick loves every minute of his life.

In part 2 of Gary Vaynerchuk: Now is time time . find out about Gary’s tips and strategies to build your internet dream business.
